Responsibilities
- Achieve high standards of safe and pollution-free operations of vessels by ensuring that company policies related to Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality Assurance (HSEQA) are effectively implemented
- Keep abreast of international regulations / legal requirements and ensure that all vessels in the fleet comply to these.
- Check main engine and diesel generator performance on a regular/ monthly basis and provide solutions to the Fleet Manager/ Director, Technical for improving the machinery performance, if found deteriorated or not meeting the Charter Party requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to the Technical Superintendent in preparing the dry docking repair specification.
- Attend the dry docking of vessels as and when required to identify any gaps and implementing the desired improvements.
- Manage inspection of the fleet vessels on a regular basis to identify the common defects and/ or areas for improvement. Conduct training of ship staff on key technical issues and for enhancing the safety culture onboard.
- Keep the technical circulars/ recommendation/modification repository from the makers for main engine, auxiliary engines and auxiliary boilers, updated on a regular basis.
- Prepare technical circulars for fleet information/ broadcast on any technical matter as and when required.
Requirements
- Degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in management of ( Tanker – Bulk / Oil / Crude / Chemical / LNG / LPG ) or Dry – Bulk / Containers is a plus.
- Flexible and proactive attitude.
